| Marathon was challenged by upper management to show those outside the maintenance and reliability organizations the benefit from all the valuable information gathered in their Meridium system. To meet this challenge, Marathon created RED - the Refinery Equipment Database - a web-based portal allowing all Marathon employees to access many different types of equipment information, including querying for failure information, using standard equipment numbers and no formal knowledge of Meridium. Demonstrating phenomenal success, last year, the website had over 250,000 hits, thus making Meridium integral to the whole corporation - not just the maintenance/reliability department. |
